Thank you for wanting to help us achieve our goals! Let’s work together.
The MdDS Foundation relies on volunteers to accomplish its mission. If you have skills or connections that can make a difference, please contact us. Tell us what your talents are or how you can help. Opportunities to help are not limited to the following positions:
Treasurer
The Treasurer plays a pivotal role in managing our organization’s financial health. This individual oversees all financial operations, collaborating closely with a bookkeeper to produce essential monthly and annual financial reports. As a voting member of our Board of Directors, the Treasurer works directly with the Board President and Secretary to develop and manage comprehensive budgets, encompassing overall organizational finances as well as specific program, overhead, labor, and administrative expenses.
Qualifications include:
Ability to provide organizational leadership to help the organization grow and develop strategies that expand its reach,
Verbal and written communication skills to write descriptive financial reports and better collaborate with other board members,
Financial expertise,
An understanding of the nonprofit’s mission and vision,
Fundraising and resource development skills,
Proficiency with QuickBooks and Excel
Estimated time requirement: 8-12 hours/month
Healthcare Provider Outreach
Work with us to improve the experience the MdDS community has with healthcare providers at point-of-care. At present, our primary need is lead generation. We must find young doctors/researchers to replace those who have retired. We also maintain a large database of professional contacts to keep educated and made aware of new developments, a primary Mission goal.
As a member of our Outreach Team, you will:
• work with others to help get MdDS included on medical school curricula,
• adhere to our Mission and Goals and represent the MdDS Foundation in all communications,
• mail educational packets (brochures, pre-written outreach letters, etc.),
• must be comfortable using a spreadsheet program such as Google Sheets and Excel,
• familiarity with or willingness to learn Google Forms is desired,
• make phone calls as needed. This skill will be crucial if providing a Physician Directory on this website becomes a goal.
Estimated time requirement: discretionary
Social Media Manager
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to serve as a Patient Ambassador and help bring MdDS to the forefront! We need your voice to maintain our top Google ranking through regular, quality blog and social media posts that provide value to our diverse audiences, including the general public, patients, and healthcare professionals. Whether from a patient or caretaker perspective, you will contribute efforts to educate the general public, raise awareness, and garner support for our cause through social media sharing.
Must be versed in the Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube platforms. The ability to expand our reach to traditional media is desired.
This role includes a seat on our Board of Directors for qualified candidates. Your involvement on the Board is crucial due to your direct access to various accounts and your vital collaboration on our public awareness campaigns. We estimate a time commitment of 5-7 hours per month.
Project Manager
Are you Type-A and like to be organized? We need a Project Manager to keep us on track to success. The Project Manager will monitor all volunteer activity and ensure projects move forward. Typical projects include educational brochure distribution, newsletter, awareness campaigns, and fundraising campaigns. Highlights of our editorial calendar include Rare Disease day in February, MdDS Awareness Month (June) and Giving Tuesday in November. With multiple projects going on simultaneously, efforts need to be timely and coordinated within both our support groups and all our social media channels (primarily Facebook and Instagram).
Estimated time requirement: 5 hrs/month, more during big campaigns
