MdDS Friends share real world advice and tips that you can actually use. Because the MdDS Foundation is run entirely by volunteers, we cannot offer one-on-one phone, text, or personal support. Instead, we built ‘MdDS Friends’ on Facebook to give our community a direct line to one another. MdDS Friends is where MdDS warriors share their personal experiences with each other. You will find caring people from all over the world who understand what it is like to live with MdDS everyday.

How to Join MdDS Friends

You must have and be logged into your personal Facebook account to join ‘MdDS Friends’ on Facebook.

  1. Use a web browser to visit facebook.com/groups/MdDSfriends/.
    • The Facebook app doesn’t always show the screening questions. It’s best to login on the Facebook website.
    • You must have a profile photo. To ensure Group quality, accounts without one will be automatically denied.
  2. Click/tap +Join Group.
  3. Answer all parts of each screening question.
    • If you can’t see the questions, don’t use the app. Login on the Facebook website.

The support group is for the sole purpose of discussing Mal de Débarquement Syndrome and related issues. Reading and adhering to the Group Rules is a condition of membership. Furthermore, reading and adhering to our Posting Policy Terms & Conditions governs your use of this site and social media properties of the MdDS Foundation.

Why Facebook?

Facebook is the only platform that provides the privacy features needed by both community members and our volunteer team. For daily connection and community support, MdDS Friends is your single best option. Joining the group gives you access to:

  • A Dedicated Peer Network: With thousands of members worldwide, it is the largest safe space to ask specific, day-to-day questions—ranging from medication experiences to coping strategies.
  • Real-Time Support: Connect directly with thousands of individuals living with Mal de Débarquement Syndrome who understand the daily experience. Share, ask questions, and get peer support whenever you need it. Our Facebook community offers continuous, 24/7 peer support that no single individual or email inbox can replicate
  • Searchable Insights: Years of real, shared experiences are indexed within the group, making it easy to search past discussions on specific topics or treatments. PRO TIP: Don’t use the app. Log into facebook.com.

We do not provide local support groups or have a healthcare provider list to share. MdDS Friends is your best avenue for getting support both online and near to you.

How to Give Support

The support group is open to MdDS patients and one support person each. A support person must apply to be a member by answering the membership questions, identifying the member they are supporting (by name), and agreeing to the Group rules. We recommend that spouses, close family members, or friends of an MdDS Warrior follow our Community Page which is public and accessible to all. Find it at facebook.com/mddsfoundation.org.
